Petrol Guage Reading Empty Even Though I Got A Full Tank Mk1 Focus Tdci

Featured Replies

Hi I got a problem on fuel gauge reading empty with light on even though I got a full tank. What could it be any help appreciated thanks

it could be either a faulty, or stuck Fuel Sender Unit, or a fault on the instrument cluster.

When you start the car to electrics, you should see the needle try to move? is this the case?

Hi when I turn off ignition the gauge shoots to half way and as soon as I've started up engine it goes back to empty with fuel light on. All other gauges are fine.

Sounds like the fuel sender unit then as the clock itself works.

Best bet, is to find one of our finest miserable looking roads, and drive the car over bumps, lumps and holes. That should hopefully shake it loose if its stuck (dont go mad though, you dont want a broken spring to accompany!)
