Just to let people know I found a way to unlock the M series CD rds stereaos without going to a dealer and getting ripped off on their pricing.

I think this only works when the stereo is locked after the 10 attempts to input the code (as was the case with the one I bought as it turns out).

The screen will say locked, with the number 10 below it..

Turn stereo off, then switch ignition fully on. Now press and hold button number 6 whilst switching stereo on. (The screen may flash a few times). Release button 6, you should now have 3 more attempts to input the code.

I got this info from the Free Ford Radio Codes website. I also got the correct code for the unit there as well. Simply click on the series of unit you have from the list on the site, then input the serial number and then select the unit that matches your from the picture. It will then search for and supply you with the code for your unit free of charge. Bargain,

Thanks, there is a website, free ford radio codes .com that specialises in Ford stereos. There are several experts on there, two of whom also know how to unlock stereos when all else, even the tip I posted, have failed. One of them even has the software for unlocking what Ford calls "unlockable except by main dealer" units! I would post the link, but, being Welsh and old, I suffer from a high degree of technophobological inexactitude, or, in short, I'm useless with computers!!!.
