Help required please, cannot open tailgate.

Went to open the tailgate this morning and heard the solenoid operate and opened onto the latch, but could not fully open. Pushed it closed to try again and now will not open onto the latch, can hear the solenoid operating but tailgate stays fully closed. Climbed into the back to try and remove the tailgate cover, removed the two only visible screws but cannot remove cover.

Thought there must be an emergency release somewhere but handbook does not mention one.

Any ideas please!

Mine has a handle at the right hand side of the boot as your looking from the outside of the boot.

Iguess your looking from inside so look left hand side of the car when your in the boot

I have 67 reg ford modeo estate, I cant get the tailgate to open, I hear a click when using the fob and button near tailgate reg lights but it will not release, any ideas or solutions?
