MK7 - Passenger Door Lock Problem

Featured Replies

Here listed in the passenger door lock problem i have mentioned in my other thread,

Does anyone here have this problem. To find out try this:

1. Get in the car with a passenger

2. Shut the doors

3. Lock the car from the button under the hazzard light, it should glow yellow

4. now open the drivers door

5. Has the light gone off instantly and the car unlocks?

IF yes go to TEST2.

IF no you have what ford term as "The european door lock error"

TEST2

1. Get in the car with a passenger

2. Shut the doors

3. Lock the car from the button under the hazzard light, it should glow yellow

4. now open the passenger door

5. Has the light gone off instantly and the car unlocks?

IF yes you have no problem with your car. - i doubt there is many!

IF no you have what ford term as "The UK door lock error"

PLEASE:

Post back if yours has this problem too, ford have been trying to sort it out on mine since the 1st week in march! and yes they admit its a fault on the locking system.

Seriously try it, :) please for my own sanity?

Will try it in the morning for you!

From memory i think my light stays on when a passenger gets out with the doors lock!

Tested it earlier, i have the "The UK door lock error". The light stays on when i open the passenger side door from the inside. So is it just a problem with the lights or something more serious?

sadly i am unsure, on mine it means when the doors are locked you can open the passenger from the outside, no other door can be opened from the outside with the yellow light on.

So basically it doesnt lock the passenger door :(

My dad couldnt open either door from the outside when the light was on. I did notice a minute later that the light had gone out without anyone opening the door! My dad had left by that time so i couldn't see if he could open the doors now. Maybe the light is supposed to stay on when the passenger leaves for security reasons to prevent someone opening the drivers door from the outside and maybe the passenger door automatically looks again when they close it?

That doesnt seam unreasonable. As long as the drivers door doesnt relock and lock me out of the car its all good i think!

So does mine but I don't see it as a problem--the main thing being that the door does unlock I suppose.

I've just locked the car and no doors can be opened from the outside so all's well I guess! ;)

Mine has this 'problem'. When the car is locked, if a passenger gets out then re-enters the door will stay unlocked even thought the light is on. Meanwhile the drivers door continues to be locked.

Im not to bothered to be honest.
