Focus Mk Ii: No Cruise Control Indicator Or "lights On" Warning

Featured Replies

Recently inherited a 2007 1.6 auto & have noticed a couple of issues:

The cruise control works fine but there is no indicator lit when it's engaged.

If the door is opened with the lights still on, there is no audible warning. Same for the auto not being in park. The courtesy light comes on so I guess the door switch is working.

Any pointers gratefully received.

Have you checked the fuses? That would be my first port of call

With regards the cruise light, access the self test screen. Turn the ignition to position 0, press and hold the reset button (NOTE, this will likely reset your trip mileage) and then when you see TEST appear, let go of the button,

Now, press the reset button once, and it should do an LED test, does the cruise icon light? if not it could be the bulb has gone.

Is it a home made cruise setup, or a factory fitted? as I have seen one person who had a similar issue when they built there own cruise switches.

Thanks.

After a bit of digging I found you have to start the car with the reset depressed to enter test mode. The cruise indicator lights in test mode. It's factory fit.

Also looks like I was wrong with the door switch as that isn't registering on the switch test.

Maybe just the cmax did it on position 2 but at least you got there. It's odd that it's not registering?

The switch test is only those on the dash not the others, might need to replace the door switch I expect.

Switch test worked for the other doors. ;)

As far as I can tell, the switch is inside the door & activated by the catch. So I've got to decide which is the lesser of two evils. Pulling the door card & external handle off to get access or the inevitable flat battery when I leave the lights on. :(

The cruise light does seem odd but it's a minor thing as at least it's working.

That does surprise me, my door switches never did it but again was the cmax lol

Cruise light solved courtesy of Chris.

Gave the door catch a good blast of WD40 yesterday as suggested elsewhere but to no avail.
