I have a old ish standard remote controlled key and would like to buy a new remote controlled key but what can flip out like the new ish ones!

Any one did the same or can recommend me something ?

Easy enough to do.

If you have a key that you want to use as the donor (i.e. if you have two standard tibble keys), buy a conversion off ebay for about £6 or so, then take it to your local keycutters, you could get that done for around £12 or so from an independant. Then take the donor key and remove the innards and just transfer the circuit board over to the new key (dont forget the immobiliser chip)

If your converting an existing key, you can have it done for about £25, if you need a new key then it costs a bit more. I recently had to buy a spare key for my car (ended up being swapped to be the main key) cost for me was:

1 - Flip key and blade (no chip or circuit board) - circa £7

2 - Key Cutting - £12

3 - Immobiliser chip coding and installation - £35 (they just coded a glass chip and played with the keys innards to widen it from carbon chip to fit and hold the glass chip.

4 - I already had a donor key, but if I wanted the innards as well, it would have cost another £10 or so.

Either way, an independant can help you for a small amount!
