mike300
Hi can any one help with the following problem : Engine radiator fan not cutting in as engine temperature rises.Short initial explanation :1. Ford escort 1600cc. zetec engine. Reg "R" 1998.2. Air conditioning fitted.3. One cooling fan fitted.4. Instrument panel. Temp. Gauge ok.5. Engine Temp. Sensor 4 Pin changed for new one.6. The only way to get the Radiator Fan to work is to switch on Air Conditioning then fan operates ????7. Cooling fan relay and Fuse checked ok.Wiring diagrams available in Haynes Manuals do not show where the two wiring system junctions of the two should occur.Does any one have any Ideas on this problem. Lack of good wiring schematicsmakes trouble shooting difficult, only had car for a short period of time.mike300... Should add 'engine ran until the engine coolant temp was in the red zone on the gauge and as added above the fan would run when the air con. is switched on but not on normal engine hot. mike300
stef123
Hello and welcome. The fan will only operate when the temperature rises above normal operating boundaries.
mike300
Hello and welcome. The fan will only operate when the temperature rises above normal operating boundaries. Thanks Stef123 for your input, but I obviously left a line of text out of my problem in as much as : I ran the engine up to the red section of the temp. gauge and the fan just did not cut in at the engine 'hot' but would run when the air con. was switched on. Hope this adds a little to my problem. Thanks, Mike......................
