Me Vs Halfords Dispute!!

Featured Replies

Hi there,

New to fordowners club, been a loyal ford owner since I passed my driving test!! Anyhow, I have a ford ranger and a ford focus, my ford focus recently went to halfords for an MOT, where they failed it, on both suspension arms and wheel alinement, fair play, payed over £469 +vat for repair, driving back from London both tyres blow out on the front with excessive inner wear the rac breakdown guy said, so brought new tyres additional cost, and then I thought tyre damage was never reconized on my mot, and the rac breakdown guy said that it was caused by my suspension arms, I said that I had just had them replaced he said didn't they tell you to change your tyres!?? I said no!??? So went back to halfords, they said they would check over the work done and get back to me, now they are saying tyre damage is caused by spring damage and coilovers.... So why didn't they pick this up when changing suspension arms!?? You know I'm 29 and blonde but I'm sure they are treating me as a thick person that is willing to pay all this money out!! Need advice!! Please help!!

file a complaint or speak to the manager at the halfords garage youve been to and maybe get a statement or something from the RAC guy

Thanks for your reply,

I Have done that, but still with the issue of what's wrong with my car!? I thought my springs and coilovers look ok as the car handles ok however I really do believe they have fobbed me off about my tyres...

Vosa would be interested to know if the have passed a car with defective tyres I suspect

£469 plus VAT seems very expensive to me to start with. Unless I am harping back to the good old days. I am amazed that they would miss two dangerous tyres. I would have thought the handling was terrible.

lesson learnt... just dont go to halfords because theyre !Removed!

Thanks all. And yes I think I shall inform vosa, handling and braking was pretty much shocking, and stupidly I thought well it's had new arms put on maybe it will ease when they have been 'bedded' in!!!

Very much a lesson learnt!!
