Presumably an NA petrol 1.8?

Remap, intake and exhaust mods, you could fit a K&N or similar panel filter, a freer-flowing (cat back) exhaust, a 4-branch manifold will help, you could have it heat-wrapped

the airbox could be gas-flowed, you could fit a quick-shifter

More expensive mods include - a bigger throttle-body fitted , the engine could be balanced/ blueprinted, ported, etc higher-lift cams fitted, lightened flywheel fitted uprated clutch (eg carbon or fast road etc)

other things to reduce load/ increase revs like an electric waterpump or AC delete, overall car can be lightened as well - can make a big difference

Of course, removing any cheesy bonnet art is worth an extra 10Hp and knocks a second off the 0-60!
