Challenge 1.6 Tdci 6 Speed Gearbox

Featured Replies

Am looking to put a focus tdci 6 speed gearbox into a fiesta but has this been done before or is it even possible.

Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

Its a lot of hassle for little real advantage - i have a 5-speed in my Mondeo and prefer it to the 6-speed as i get faster top gear acceleration - 6th is just an overdrive and you often never use it apart from on M-ways and (depending on car/ engine) you often have to change down for hills even then

couldnt agree more, I have the 6 speed, and when I am cruising along over 40 on the A roads its fine, but as soon as I encounter a rather large and windy hill near work, I have to drop to 5th at least, or if some pleb in front thinks that the speed limit is in kMph and not MPH, then I have to drop to fourth.

I love the 6 speed, and it helps efficiency a lot, and I do spend about 2/3 of my driving day in 6th gear, and it helps but there are times when I still need to drop a cog or two to save myself an embarassing moment on the roads!
