First Detail, Restoring Shine?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone!

Just before I start, I'd like to say I've never detailed before but I'd like to get reasonable at it before I change up to a new model later this year! So treat me like I don't know a thing :)

I've attached a picture of my current 97' Fiesta, not great sorry. It's lost most of its shine and it does have some rust spots, but I'd like to get it looking as pretty as I can! So what process/products would you recommend? It's never going to look amazing at this point I know!

Hi

Trust me the best i ever used is called showroom shine by greased lightning,it's about £20 but worth every penny and I should no I've used them all,no elbow grease needed.

Ah, I did it a while ago but since nobody had replied I didn't comment!

1. Rinse

2. Wash with Dodo born to be mild

3. Clay

4. Rinse and wash again

5. Coat of Dodo Need for speed

6. Two coats of dodo blue velvet!

It's looking super shiny now (within reason, the paint is pretty beaten up!)

I now have some iron X which I used on my Dad's car this weekend and its great, so I'll give mine a dose of that next time too.

Picture attached! I'll also attach one of my dad's (though that hadn't been waxed at that point)

I'll have to try that product, there's so many to choose :)

Thanks! I'm quickly finding its a slippery slope though haha. The cleaner you get it, the more you want to buy to get it cleaner. Arsenal already grown to trim restorer and glass polish + the Iron X, and on payday there is more to come. So satisfying when it's done though :)

All in prep for when I change the car. I keep finding peoples cars' to wash each weekend though, it's becoming an addiction!

It only gets worse, Ive had to curb my enthusiasm for cleaning my car since the little un was born, probably a good thing as it was costing me a fortune, I only have the necessities now to keep my car looking good
