Ford Cmax Titanium - No Bluetooth

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just bought a 59 plate 1.8 Cmax Titanium with the x-pack (I think that's what the car sales called it). The card was sold as top of range including Bluetooth.

I love the car and fingers crossed it lasts longer than the Peugeot 307.

At the moment the issue I have is the car was sold with Bluetooth but after getting home and trying to connect my phone I am unable to find any options in the settings, and pressing the phone, green or red buttons the volume is muted. From looking at the internet it would appear that although it has the buttons, the car is not setup ("enabled") for Bluetooth. After calling the dealer and asking him how to connect, he is now telling me the car is Bluetooth enabled, but in order for it to work I need to buy a module and connect it to the car stereo. I told the car dealer that you gave me the impression the car had Bluetooth and he is saying he told me the car was Bluetooth enabled, and if I had pressed him about it he would have advised me that this means you need a module etc to make it work. He also told me that Ford sell the Bluetooth as Bluetooth enabled so he is not doing anything wrong.

Although probably pointless I will be contacting Citizens Advice to see if they can help at all, but not counting my chickens.

So I guess my question is two fold:

  1. is it quite common for a ford to be sold as "Bluetooth enabled" but it means you need to buy a module to make it work
  2. how much am I looking at in order to get the module connected and the Bluetooth working.

I have searched on etis.ford.com with the VIN number and under Minor Features it states "Less Bluetooth", which I assume confirms there is no Bluetooth and it states "Less Voice Activated Modules".

Any advice on the above would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Sounds like the dealer is trying to fob you off. If it is bluetooth enabled it should have the module and be working.

As per etis, your car is "less bluetooth".

I would demand they supply and fit the bluetooth module at no cost to you to make it meet the advertised spec, or you want to return the car for a full refund plus consequential losses as it is not as described.

if you have a VOICE button on the stalk, this indicates the module is most likely there. If it doesnt, then as ETIS says, your car is without bluetooth.

As Alex says, argue the point with the dealer, tell them you have been missold this car, and either you want compensating for their error, or you want them to fit it free of charge. They cannot and should not sell a car in that manner. I had the same thing with my Cee'd when I bought it, they had alsorts of features that werent there. In the end they offered me a full blown service, free mats and a free MOT as recompense. I wasnt too bothered at the time so accepted this along with a £50 cheque to cover the difference. SO you should definately fight it, I would also be checking ETIS and your car for all the other features they claimed it has and make a note of further wrongdoing.

I Had the exact problem with mine, it can be done but expensive what with wiring, module ect, best bet is contact Ford service uk on twitter ( @FordService_uk ) and they will get some details off you and tell you if it can be installed 'retrofit' thats what i done as i was going to buy the stuff to do it but it is a big job, easier to get parrot. Hope this helps, good luck

Thank you all for the replies, sounds like I do have a leg to stand on after all. I will contact the dealer again asking how he wants to resolve it, and if he refuses I will get in touch with Citizen Advice.

Cheers

good luck! even if they reimburse you enough to replace the headunit with bluetooth integrated?

Sorry I don't follow the question.

Sorry, long day and inappropriate use of punctuation!
