Hi all just gave my white fiesta its first wash using a mitt & cold water & then meguiars gold class shampoo.

What would be the best product to remove tar spots? i had a go at rubbing a bit near my wheel and it just spread

Also i've noticed little orange specks on the white paint work am i right in thinking this is rail/break dust? we live quite close to the train line.The shampoo didnt really touch the orange specks could somebody recommend a good product?

Hi , autoglym have a good tar remover, and also if you use warm water with the shampoo and the back of most hand mits have a mesh like side to them that skims across the paint removing anything that would generally stick up off the paint (just be carefull as to not put too much pressure) . I generally pin point the areas around the car that need doing first,then use two bucket method for the rest of the car. I'd try the warm water and shampoo before buying any product . Orange spots are generally dead bugs that need removing as they can release chemicals that can harm the paint .

I've bought some autoglym tar Remover.

I don't think the orange specks are bugs. There's bits all over the car I tried rubbing my nail over it but it seems to be in with the paint. I've been reading it could possibly be rail dust

If it's rail dust keep your car waxed so they don't bond well with the surface paint, a good clay bar should work to help remove them.

Had this on my white focus mate, bought myself a claybar and went over the whole car with that and removed them all! Very time consuming mind you but well worth it, paintwork comes out smooth with no spots!

For the orange spots I bought some Auto Finesse IO500 Iron Out Remover hopefully that does the job if not I'll try claying it

Autosmart tardis for organic removal (tar etc) and auto finesse iron out for inorganic (Orange dots. Railway dust etc)

If you're lucky, you might not ever have to clay again!

WD40 is also good for tar spots

So is Asda Smart Price furniture polish (no, really! )
