A Bolt With Oil On Threads. Where Has It Come From.

Featured Replies

Okay so yesterday I was being a !Removed! in my car I won't lie. As had argument with other half. Cut a long story short at a round about I slated it in to second and put foot down. I head a ting noise so I pulled over looked round and saw a bolt on the floor and the thread had oil on it.

If it's from my car would it of come from. Any ideas.

engine mount?

edit :- didnt read the oil part.....

If that had come off as a result of you booting it, it must have been very loose in the first place. The smell of gear oil is very distinctive. Hopefully someone will be along that can identify the most likely location for it.

Yeah thanks.

Like I said I would of though if oil where on the treads does that not mean where ever it's come from could leak. Yet no leaking. But I'm not all there with engine stuff so dunno ha.

But thanks for comments

Is it possible that it's just been thrown up by the wheel? And nothing to do with your car.

Looks like the size of bolt found in things like alternators/aircon pumps etc.
