Richard Hughes
On my ford focus 1.8tdci I have got a immediate single screech every time I stop and start my car. I bought the car about five years ago and it has always happened . I have changed the cambelt and auxiliary belt but it's still there. Just wondered if anyone can shed light on this. I have no aircon on this car so it's not that. Thanks for any comments in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
jeebowhite
Where is this screech coming from? Are you sure its the engine bay and not one of the sides?
Richard Hughes
Sounds like it's coming from the pulley wheel area. The sound only happens when start and stop engine. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
stef123
Can you remove the auxiliary belt and see if the noise persists?
Richard Hughes
Will try that steff. It could be the pulley I reckon Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
stef123
I used to get an annoying squeal on my mk1 focus from the crank pulley. I took some emery cloth or similar round it to take the shine off it. It worked in my situation so it might be worth a look?
