Changing Oil

Featured Replies

New to driving so this is only the 2nd time ive topped up my oil. I have a ford focus 2002 1.4

I just topped up my oil and added too much. Ive added about 6 to 7mm over the max mark. The engine was cooled for about 10 min.

Will this do much damage?

Thanks.

The extra pressure caused can blow the crankshaft seals out. If the one goes on the gearbox side it is an expensive job to sort. Your best draining some off.

I've certainly seen Ford dealers overfill the oil by 5 mm or so, so you should be fine.
