This upgrades work great but the police and mot testers are coming down hard on these since the law changed on them about a year ago. If fitting them I would suggest fitting headlamp washers as these are a legal requirement of having hids and is looked for during inspections. Auto headlamp levelling is also a requirement but never checked for so won't prove a problem. 5000k is about what oem hids are putting out.

Would anyone know what options are available for upgrading the factory fitted Xenon's?

IIRC if your car comes with Xenon (HID) lighting system you'll need levellers and headlight washers, but with aftermarket HID kits the levelling and washer requirements are not needed therefore will pass MOT etc.

aftermarket hid kits also require you to have by law auto levelling and washer jets. Not having these 1 it's an mot failure 2 it is illegal to have hid lights without either of these. Self level is always checked on mots as when you turn the lights on you can see the light move down then up the level correctly so there is no need to check unless you don't see it. My stance is if you have a car with hid from factory fine. But retro fitting can cause serious accidents as I can't count how many times I've been blinded by cars with retro fit hid. This is because you need the projector style lights as if you don't hid doesn't have a beam patern other wise. That is also why you need to have self levelling and you need headlamp washer jets as when they get dirty it defracts the light also blinding on coming vehicles. You will most likely get away with it with the police cause you often see police anywhere these days. You will definitely fail an mot and mot testers can and should report you for the offence to the police. It's 3points for incorrect bulbs 3points for no self levelling 3points for no washer jets the fine will be £180 if you want to risk it.

Sorry didn't mean to post that twice.

Just want to add, I added facelift headlights & rear lights to my Prefacelift fiesta mk6, whilst doing so I converted the headlights to Bixenon projectors & added 5k HIDs.

When I took my car for it's MOT it failed on two wheel bearings but they didn't mention the HIDs at all. I purchased lots of components ready to make up a washer kit myself but in the end it passed the MOT without washers!

After replacing the bearings the same day I took it back for a retest and they still mentioned nothing about the HIDs

So, my car does NOT have washers or self levelling :)

They even aligned my projectors for me!
