Damaged Number Plate - Bracket/holder Assistance Required Please

Featured Replies

hi guys,

I recently had an idiot try to get he rear number plate off my focus, and to get it off they wrecked the first screw (so it's gotta be drilled out) but on the second one, hey twisted and pulled and distorted the hole that the hole is now too big and he plus is completely gone.

What's the best advice for me to fix this guys, but I refuse to use rivnuts...

Thank you.

Wow ye wouldn't hear that about my area (woulda got their head kicked in) but sorry to hear this Erm what about bolt with 2 nuts and a washer then (a don't know ur car but can you reach behind to put a nut and bolt in?

And why you against rivnuts?

Use a rivnut kit.

That will give you a threaded nut permanently attached to the hole and also seal against water ingress.

(It's basically what was there originally anyway.)

I actually have a similar situation to yours but the damage was self-inflicted after I had to remove old manky plates but the last fitter had used oversized screws that jammed the original rivnut.

Yet to do the job myself but the above is how I will do it. (When I find time/can be arsed) ;)
