Eolys Dpf > Coated Dpf?

Featured Replies

Morning all,

So I'm still having DPF issues unfortunately, and although the car is still under a used car warranty, the DPF isn't covered as it's a wear and tear item (which I can understand for a set of brake pads but it's a bit unfair on such an expensive part imo).

Anyway, I looked into removal and remaps but unfortunately, due to the size and complexity of the file on the Focus the remap would cost far more than I was expecting. Plus the price to cut, gut and re-seal the DPF which companies (around here at least) aren't willing to do since VOSA has been cutting down on DPF removal, there will also be new MOT regs coming in soon relating to DPFs, according to a mate who is a tester.

So with that in mind I thought I'd check ebay for the price of a new DPF, which actually wasn't as bad as I was expecting for a pattern part, less than the price of just the remap infact! But then I also saw a couple of very low mileage used DPF's from newer models. And I was wondering if I coud fit a cDPF to my car instead of the Eolys one? As they're newer I assume they work more efficiently, and of course wont need the expensive Eolys replacement.

So is that a viable option? Will the cDPF from a 2012/2013 model fit my 2008 model? Is the regen software any different for it? Has anyone done it?

Sorry for the essay and all the questions but it could be a much more efficient and economic fix than the others I was considering! Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

Fitting the cDPF is an option, but you still need the remap. The sensors would play havoc, the EOLYS fluid would throw up problems.

Its possible, although you may need to swap the exhaust, but I think you could probably do it!

Already changed it, kept with the Eolys one. Was too much hassle to go with the coated.
