Catalytic Converter

Featured Replies

Hi I own a focus st170 2004 and was just wondering if any one could help me. I keep getting the fault code p0420. I have changed both lamdba sensors and had 2 catalytic converters. ( both aftermarket ) . So I rang ford and they said it requires a genuine catalyst. Could this be true does anyone know. Any help would be appreciated.

No it doesn't require genuine catalysts but the cars fitted need to be of a good brand as the chances are cheap parts are probably inferior quality.

Thanks for the reply. The two cat's I have had have both been over 200 pound. What else could be causing the problem do you think?

You say you have replaced the lambda sensors, what brand did you fit?

It could be caused by a leak in the inlet or exhaust amongst other things.

The lamdba sensors are denso. OK that's helpful. I don't have a great knowledge of cars lol
