Wheels93
Removing my headlight tonight i have snapped the little bit of plastic you use to pop the cable from the headlight. Has this happened to anyone else and secondly is it possible to replace that plastic? Also does anyone know where you can purchase headlight bulb retaining clips? troy45
If you mean the tang on the connector you have to push over to try and release it from the headlight I've had that happen too - it's not the best of designs. The connector will probably stay secure without the retaining tang, with my last Focus I did replace it as I was able to source a spare housing from work then had to de-pin the damaged connector and fit the new one to the loom. There's a purple/pink clip you need to pull out of the side of the connector before you can get the pins out. The housings cost next to nothing if you are able to find them online, but Ford dealers may charge a premium :(
Wheels93
Ive heard they cost next to nothing but they are like rocking horse poo to get hold of. Yeah that little tang thing on the cable. Pain in the backside. Only wanted to change my sidelight ahaha. It will stay secure im positive about that because it still clips when i push it to the headlight. Might plastic weld one on
troy45
Don't think it'd be worth trying to plastic weld something on, the latch tang is pretty thin so there's not much to join anything to. To get mine off after the tang broke I had to butcher the connector with a soldering iron while it was still attached to the headlamp. Still got the remains of it but can't see any details - googling shows the connector is also used on Jag X-type, ST170 and some Skoda's too. It's a lot easier to source a replacement connector if you've got the manufacturers name and part number - will see what I can dig out for it.
