Ford Focus Mk1 Head Unit Conundrum

Featured Replies

I'm brand new to Ford after owning a Peugeot for the last 3 years which has unfortunately been written off.

I've gone to move over my Pioneer head unit from my old 306 to the Focus and initially for the first few days it was working flawlessly. Now though the unit picks up all the usual DAB stations but I have no output to the speakers, the same happens if I use AUX/USB/FM. To try and troubleshoot where this was going wrong I popped back to Halfords and got the unit swapped but the same problem remains. Now for the part which I can't get my head around, I hooked up my old Sony unit and this works straight away with both CD's and on FM but if I switch back to the Pioneer then I get nothing even though it visually it's working fine.

These are the units.

Have you got a patch wire to convert the Ford connector to the Sony? I had a problem with trying to swap a Pioneer for a Sony in my old Honda, I think that the wiring on the patch lead is slightly different between the Sony and the Pioneer.
