Wheels And Tyres

Featured Replies

Hi to all FOC's

I'll got a 2008 3door Focus Titanium with 225/40/18 all round and I'm finding the ride to

be a bit hard at times.

I love my car so what can I do about making the ride it a bit softer ?

Look at changing the wheels and tyres to something a bit smaller say 205/50/17 or even 205/55/16 ?

Or maybe something will the springs ? or anything else with the car ?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly received.

looking forward to hearing your comments.

While getting another set of wheels and tyres might cost more than getting a set of springs (and fitting them) I think you'll have a better chance of achieving the softer ride first time - there is a very large range of springs factory fitted and may be pot luck getting a set of springs which are actually softer.

Plus you can always sell the 18's if the smaller wheels do the job for you.

17 are the way to go if you want ride comfort 30 mm drop is just about right for road use

At least if you go down the wheel change route, you can recoup some of the cost by flogging the 18's.

The standard alloys are 16's and as you said, run on 205/55/16 tyres. Personally, I like the look of them - and they do offer a very comfortable ride coupled with standard suspension
