Mk2.5 Mirrors On Mk2??? Help.

Featured Replies

How easy is it to wire up mk2.5 onto mk2 aparently they fit but plugs are different. Any pics or diagrams for it please..

Focus MK2.5 do not fit on MK2 doors without modifications. The mounting of the MK2.5 mirrors is slightly different.

If you want to install MK2.5 mirrors you should use the mirrors of the late Focus CC MK2.5 (the early MK2.5 Focus CC did still have the MK2 mirrors). These should be a straight fit because on the Focus CC there are much less differences between the MK2 and MK2.5 than on the normal Focus MK2/MK2.5.

Most functions of the MK2.5 mirrors are controlled over the CANbus system by the door modules. The MK2 does only have door modules if it has one or more of the following functions:

* Double locking.

* Comfort windows (4 electric windows).

* Mirrors with indicators.

* Mirrors with puddle lamps.

If the MK2 has door modules you can install the MK2.5 door wiring looms. If the MK2 does not have door modules you either have to install the door modules and wiring looms and reprogram the car or you have to rewire the mirrors and add the missing wiring.

JW1982: maybe a little off-topic question, but can I visually check for door modules? If so, what do they look like? I only have double locking feature, but I'm thinking about installing rear electric mirrors (probably with speakers upgrade), but I'd like to avoid re-wiring half of the car to do this...

If the main reason for fitting the 2.5 mirrors is for indicators then be aware that ALL mk2 mirrors with a removable cover has the space to fit the indicators.

You just have to splice into the side repeater wires and run wires behind the door seals.

As you won't want double side repeaters, blanking caps are available.

Of course you'll need the indicator fit mirror covers too-
