Battery Problem

Featured Replies

Evening all,

I have a 55 plate 1.6 100bhp estate.

Recently when starting it struggles to turn over and I can see a front light coming on from inside the car. The car then starts. It will start no problem a few times and then this problem reoccurs. I suspect the battery, but have never had one behave like this before-perhaps it is a feature of the calcim battery.

Any thoughts before I buy a battery will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

It's that time of year again if your battery is suss the colder weather will hunt it down front light coming on seems odd but suppose it could have something to do with battery breaking down or you have an earth problem personally I'd go for the battery three people at work alone have had battery's go on there cars this week like I say drop in temp will soon find a suspect battery out how longs it been on there .

headlights flickering is a sign that the battery is deadified!

Pick up a Bosch S4 from Euro car parts, just over £90 all in, and install it thoroughly and properly, and the battery just goes and goes.

Just a quick update.

Wife kept saying there was nothing wrong with her car-it must be me imagining things. Then it refused to start for her outside the son's school-ha! ha!

Put a new battery on and has been fine.

many thanks

Stevve

Imagine that result lol

Good result, what battery did you exchange it for?

I got a calcium from Halfrauds for £50 with a three year guarantee-needed it then and there./

As said above lights flickering is usually a sign of a battery dying.

My girlfriends Focus had a poor battery and the headlamps would always flicker upon start up. I was worried could be an issue with the alternator because of the flickering but since a battery change this has stopped completely

Halford seems to have brought the prices down then, never the less, the car is at least fixed!
