Tips On Car Detailing???

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

So like any guy who takes pride in his car I tend to clean my focus every week. Inside and out. But there's been one thing really bugging me. The paint work seems to have sooo many tiny light swirl scratches on it. It's an 09 plate black focus so it does really stand out. Had it about 6 months now. I always use microfiber cloths etc etc. I can only assume that the chap who had it be for me was lazy and just took it through machine washes every time.

Anyway I just wanted to ask about different types of polishes and accessories that you guys use. I go into auto parts stores (halfords) and am totally taken back by how many products they try to sell for what seems to be the same outcome.

Also if anyone has any tips / tricks for cleaning and getting that really nice for court shine back.

Any other tips and whatnot would be ace too.

Cheers

Dave

Hi, I have a panther black 2009 Zetec and mine was covered in scratches from car washes etc.

I used a mechanical polisher with a very light cutting polish (it was a cheap non branded T cut copy), then went over it again by hand. left it a day washed it then used autoglym high definition wax .

Looked fantastic, however light scratches are appearing all over the damn thing I see a new one every time I use the car!

Water based paints, not much you can do really, will probably leave mine until next summer now.
