Srs Light

Featured Replies

Hi. All

I'm new on on here looking for a little bit of advise regarding my srs light on 2009 focus

Car was involved in accident airbags didn't deploy but pretentioners did they have since been replace I took the airbag module out and had the crash data removed but now I'm still left with the non stop blinking srs light even when the car is being driven it blinks like in the video but it's not giving out any codes

Any help please thank you

Why did you remove the Restraints Control Module (RCM) out of the vehicle to reset it and how is the RCM reset?

The RCM can easily be reset inside the vehicle by a suitable diagnostic system. Even a cheap ELM327 interface combined with the free ELMconfig software can reset the crash data of the RCM.

Which diagnostic system do you use to diagnose the RCM? Most generic diagnostic system are not showing manufacturer specific DTC codes. A Ford specific diagnostic system will show DTC codes which a generic diagnostic system may not show.

Personally I would start by diagnosing the RCM using a suitable Ford specific diagnostic system. If after diagnostics there are still no codes stored into the RCM the RCM itself may be defective or not configured correctly.

Thank you for the reply

I never removed the data I sent the module of to one of these company's which wipe the modules

This is a 2nd module which I have bought and both modules do the same thing

Are the SRM modules correctly configured for the car? I have seen before that companies completely erase all data of a SRM module. In this case the SRM module must be configured for the correct settings of the car.

You should check the SRM module first for correct configuration. If these setting are correct the SRM module itself should not be the problem.

Did you also install a new crash sensor?

I no crash sensor have been replaced there was no damage to front end of the car it was all on passenger side of the car

I don't know where the crash sensor is on the passenger side

The srs module had been reprogrammed with all data for car specs to match our system

Passenger side crash sensor could be at the bottom of the b-pillar behind the interior trim

you need to remove the b pillar plastics move the seat forward, then pull the plastic cowling off the b pillar to get at the sensor.

To be honest you need to be reading the error codes to identify what is triggering the error code.

the issue is as you can see in the video the srs light isn't giving any error codes i have a auto electrician coming out next week to have a look at the car aswell

Not seen the video yet, but constant flashing tends to be no comes with the airbag control module. If you have a trip computer, turn the car on whilst holding either reset or ok button down and go into test mode, then press reset or continue repeatedly till you get to DTC codes nd make a note of any codes you have there.

There are no dtc stored nothing there there was only dtc d900 which I removed I don't have a elm237 need to get this light fixed for the MOT

Definitely worth getting an adapter. Look at my signature and click got an error On your car, USB elm is the best option with forscan as it gets every error code that is in any area of the car. For the cost of 15 quid you will save yourself a lot of trouble going forward. Just going to watch the video...

Ok I can't view the video on my phone but if it's just flashing permanently that says it's probably not communicating with the airbag control module properly. You should strip the centre console and check the connection on the module

Well Iv got a auto electrician coming out next week so hopefully it can pin point the fault

I would advise you strip it down anyway and unplug replug, you could save yourself about 50 quid

  • Author

That's the thing you unplug the module you get the seatbelt light on and the srs light on just perm and steady plug the module in and it just blinks 24/7 non stop

Ah, in which case it could be a clock spring.

  • Author

Horn on the car is working fine had no problems with that so connection seems to fine

Clockspring for airbag is different I believe.

I don't know I think the easiest option is to wait for auto electrician next week

Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

Yeah I think sadly if that is the error you probably are on the best path with auto electrician!
