Stabilisers, Newbie Needs Help.

Featured Replies

Hi, new to the forum, just got myself a 2001 tdci Focus as a runaround (and cheaper alternative to a Land Rover Discovery). Got a lot of speed bumps on the roads where I live, a couple of days ago I hit one at a bit of a cocky angle due to a learner driver parked up and heard a bang from the rear near side. I was 100yds from home and had a quick look once I'd pulled up at home, as I was noseying around under the car I noticed that the drop link stabiliser (I know different people call these different things // anti roll bar links etc, I'm referring to the small 4 or 5 inch links with a nut and bush at either end that connect vertically between the arm and axle close to the shock mounting) was missing from the near side, the off side was present. I've ordered a couple of fresh ones and plan to fit them at weekend but just wanted a few pointers on how best to fit them. Any do's and don'ts, both together or one at a time etc....

Please note I am not an experienced mechanic and might not be familiar with a lot of 'working terms' so please keep any details as simple as possible. If there is a previous post (preferably with pics) I'd appreciate the details.

thanks very much.

Jon.
