Hi all I noticed a unusual rattle last night from near the alternator and it got louder today

I've had the alternator changed in January and cam belt changed about 18 months ago

Any ideas what it could be?

Its quite load from outside the car

I've done 116,000

    Sounds like the aux belt tensioner could be shot.

    Changed mine recently, cured the noise.

    Try putting some pressure on the tensioner using an open ended spanner when idling (be careful of moving parts!)
