The Best Battery?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Another post from me.

Just looking at a new battery for my car, i was wondering what would be the best for performance and long lasting?

Also, what is the normal Voltage that my battery should give off and when the car is running.

I have a Ford Focus mk2.5 1.6 Zetec

Thanks

Think normal voltage is roughly 14.2V, at least that's what my car is giving off.

Think there's a certain battery Ford recommend, could be calcium battery but not fully sure

Bosch silver everytime you get them in eBay at a good price with a 4/5/6/7 year warranty is the s4 is s 4 year warranty s5 5 year and so on voltage with car running 14.2-14.4 v higher if the battery is low on a charge up to 14.8v maximum if the battery is practically dead. as above it must be a silver or double calcium battery

Found this one on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bosch-S4-Car-Battery-Type-063-4-Year-Guarantee-/400508624559?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d402c9eaf

So if the Voltage of the car is 14v+ then thats bad? sorry you haven't put full stops or comma's down so i didnt get what you ment.

I'm guessing this will fit in my car perfectly fine and i'd need to remove the negative before the positive when changing them over?

Thanks

14.2v - 14.4v is fine, any higher than that would indicate something unusual.

Negative is removed before positive and positive before negative when reconnecting B)

As above you can also check with the ignition on and car not running as to the battery voltage it should be 12.5-12.6 or any garage will do a free load test.

The battery above is a good battery

Just had a research on CarParts4Less and inputted my Car Reg and it comes up with a different Bosch S4 then the one on Ebay!?

Why are there 2 different types of S4's!?

First: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bosch-S4-Car-Battery-Type-063-4-Year-Guarantee-/400508624559?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d402c9eaf

2nd: http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Ford_Focus_1.6_2008/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/electrical/car-battery/?444770757&1&1d93d1894832f4419636a3b264d4ca886a44d857&1&000020

the 2nd looks to be smaller in height but longer?

This ocnfuses me now, i dont particulary want to buy a battery that doesn't fit.

Thanks again

They are different sizes - one is 063 and the other 075.

I would say that the 075 would be the one for your Focus but don't quote me on that. I'm pretty sure both could be used in the MK1s but as for the MK2.5 I don't know.

Both are from the same seller difference is the cca and battery dimensions they have a drop down list to tell you which ones for you're car go with the one they say fits

the 75 is the same physical size as the original but is ratted with a higher capacity and CCA then the OEM one, I think you can get the bigger one as well 100 ,im sure there is physically the space for it but would be a pain in the !Removed! to get in without taking things off.

I picked up

http://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs-wiper-blades-batteries/batteries/yuasa-12v-silver-car-battery-hsb010-5-yr-guarantee

75Ah 680CCA,

the original one was 60Ah 560CCA

course that's for diesel, sure as hell didn't pay over a ton for it either, the lovely Halfords discount card from here and a small calculator error on their part got me it for 70 :D
