Two Way (Amateur) Radio In A Mk1 Focus

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever fitted a ham or CB radio into their Mk1 Focus? If so where did you mount the rig, where did you get the battery feed through the bulkhead, where did you route the power leads and coax, and what antenna mount did you use?

Unusual request, maybe?

Just a bit lol

I've considered it once or twice...but never given it any serious thought. My Dad has/had a few spare sets dotted around the house (I think)

Well, it's all moot untill I can get the freakin' BONNET open, I was just hoping someone had previous experience. I'll have to wing it.

Closest I've seen is Taxi drivers having them mounted next to their knee - bolted to the fascia panel

Whip is generally a small mag-mount somewhere near the back of the car. Seems fine even at motorway speeds

Can't say I'm fond of the radio location though.

As for the bonnet, I have no sensible suggestions :D

It's ok, I managed to get the bonnet open. It seems the grille was stopping the key going in all the way, so I ripped the bugger off. :)

That's not all that far from my thought of using an angle grinder earlie lol

Well, I'm a Ratter at heart, so I'll get some chickenwire in there to replace it :)
