Hi Guys

I seen a video on you tube how to do this, it says hold down OK button on steering wheel

for 5 seconds, then press start button to go into accessory mode, then continue holding OK

button till test appears on screen, then release and you can then select tests by up/down buttons, i can get that far, but dont get guage sweep or led tests, am i doing something wrong

The video was on Yank Focus, do they mean mileage reset on right of our steering wheels

its the right method, but once you see the word test on screen, let go, and then press OK to circle through the menus. The same applies if you are using a key, turn ignition to off, press and hold, then start the car to electrics, or full ignition and this will access the menu.

I must be doing something wrong, as described in query, I used L/H OK button held it for 5 secs, then pressed power button once

to go into accessory mode, and continued to hold OK button till Test appeared, then I let go leaving test still displayed on screen

then if I press OK button, I can cycle through tests, but no gauge sweep or led tests appear or come on, just colour tests

and text for different functions tests, maybe my 2012/62 plate Tit dont support these tests ??

It should do, did you circulate all the way through until you reached test again?

Hi yes I went through everything Test to Test, no gauge sweep or LED tests !!

puzzled now...

After pressing ok button try using the uo and down buttons to scroll through each test, that works on 2013 focus

Hi I did that got colours test, pattern check, about system info etc etc , nothing else after cycling time and time again...??

Reading what I got in test mode, Serial Number B6H00V170433, Software Version 1.7.11

Could this have any bearing on it, I dont know what latest software should be for my car

and if out of date, how can I get to download it ? without dealer rip off !!

if its still under warranty take it to the dealership and tell them the trip computer keeps freezing and reseting etc,,, ask if there's a firmware update and they will install it with no charge. :)

hi again,,, just thinking i read there was an update so the trip compy display showed milage top left instead of avarage mph when in the quad display,,, so if yours still shows MPH then there is an update.

I have a 2012 Titanuim so i will give it a shot tomorrow and see what mine does.

Just been out and looked my multi display, Top left I have Avg Speed, Top right Avg Fuel

Bottom left Instant Fuel, Bottom right Trip odometer

Can you do hidden tests, and give info on Serial number xxxxxxxxxxxx, Software version xxxxxx, Date, and so on

Your build year by FordEtis or whatever

Also can you do the Gauge sweep and Led tests on yours, by what method are you using ?

I will compare with mine, before going to dealers if needed ??

hi,, i just tried it and did not get the gauge sweep either,, software version is 07/09/01 if thats any good to you.

Looks like Ford owes us some software upgrades, free or paid ??

Is there a problem with your instrument cluster?

Ford would even charge you for the correct time, their after service is a pure joke..but having said

that I love my Focus..

To be honest, thats what I am trying to determine, it will not do part of self tests

So if theres nothing actually wrong with your instrument cluster then I would leave well alone, clue is in the title , secret mode! Ford wont do update unless there is a general dislay fault with cluster in normal running mode. Updating any module is not recommened unless there is a fault.

Sometimes it causes other faults to appear , so you end up causing more problems than it fixes

hi,,, being an engineer i go by the adage,, if it aint broke dont fix it,, so im ok with mine :)

but if you want an upgrade and you dont want to pay get it done on the warranty and tell them your trip computer keeps freezing intermitantly and first thing they will do is upgrade the firmware.

Also you dont have to take it to a main dealer for warranty work, i take my car to 2 ex ford Tech's who have set up their own biusness and a re doing very well.

Just for the self test it isn't worth it, however I just saw a vid of a 2012 titanium with teat mode triggered by accessory mode (holding ok as you turn to position 2) and at the word test, the guy pressed the down key for gauge sweep.
