Temperature Gauge Moving Around

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a 2012 1.6tdci titanium x and this morning whilst sat in a long queue of traffic I noticed that my temperature gauge pretty much went from normal operating temp to about 60. It came up again once I started driving in free moving traffic. But whenever I stopped again it went back down. post-14066-142178532955_thumb.jpg

This picture shows where the needle sat when sitting in traffic this morning.

Is this normal? As it's the first winter I've had this car.

Many thanks

Adrian.

Hi Adrian

Have a 2011 Mk3 Zetec Focus ,my gauge sits bang in the middle one not higher than your pic and never moves up or down.

Hi ya

So your saying that it sits in the middle of the gauge and don't move.

Or it sits on the 60 and don't move.

Mine usually sits slap bang in the middle of the gauge and doesn't ever move.

Yeah its sits bang in the center of the gauge ,equal distance between top and bottom ,Forgot to mention mine is petrol ,Wether that has any bearing on the issue.

diesel takes longer to get to temp in winter

You're drawing heat from the engine the gauge if you read the handbook is a coolant temp gauge not engine temp as you were sitting the heat was drawn out of coolant hence why it dropped
