1.6 Climate 2005 Cutting Off When Stopping

Featured Replies

Hi hopefully someone can help me as above my Focus, especially coming up to red lights, sometimes cuts out and the revs are erratic? It seems like when I'm coming up to the red light I press clutch into neutral and when coasting to stop the engine cuts out but with no chugging just silently when I look at dash the engine light is out, I then just restart the car and go?? I was thinking about getting some redex anyone think this will help? I'm wondering if the spark plugs are clogged? Anyway hopefully it's not something bad thanks.

Could be throttle body and/or Egr valve

Check for fault codes it's either a failing battery or the speed sensor the car doesn't have an egr and its nit the throttle body from what you describe vss is common and fits the symptoms as does a battery issue

You should be able to prevent the engine cutting out by blipping the throttle to prevent the revs dropping too low, in between braking and pressing down on the clutch. Takes some getting used to but I managed to drive around for 2 years like this on my old mk1. From my own experience and research, if your speed sensor is faulty, the ECU doesn't know when to engage the idle air valve and that causes a stall. You can do the work of the air valve by keeping the revs up yourself and the car wont stall/cut out.

Apparently it was a faulty valve or valves? Also someone else was talking about the doors not closing however much you slam or gently close its like its not catching the latch well the garage said the ordered a latch from Ford and it's fixed the passenger door but my drivers door is still not clicking and it's doing my head in anyway thanks for the help and hopefully that'll be it but my gut says no......
