Modified Elm?

Featured Replies

I'm looking to getting a modified elm reader for my car. Where is the best place to purchase one from? Don't want to get one on ebay incase they are dodgey!

Also what is the switch on them for?

Thanks!

jon

The switch is used to allow the ELM327 to connect to both High Speed CANBUS (HS-CAN) and medium speed (MS-CAN) so it can access more of the modules on the car.

Ahh right! I see, so would you have the switch in one position, connect to the car and do some config. Disconnect, flick the switch and then re connect and get different options?

Probably a stupid question! Used to my old vauxhall where i just plug it in and it worked haha!

Thanks

Jon

you would just need to flick the switch and it will change the connection to do the other stuff

the reason Vauxhall only have one switch is because the amount of stuff was limited, since GM suck!
