Forscan Dtc Codes

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have used FORscan for the first time today and have read my DTC Codes of which I am getting the following:

Module: PDM - Passengers Door Control Unit & Module: DFDM - Driver Door Control Unit
DTC - B2089
This is coming up as - "Puddle / Approach Lamp Fault" however both approach lights and indicators lights are fully working, they do have LED's in them could this be the issue?

Module: GEM - Generic Electronic Module
DTC - U2030

This is for - "Rain Sensor Communication Fault",
we have noticed that occasionally the sensor does not pick up the rain
and by turning off the engine and back on again it sort of resets
itself....could this be an indication that the sensor is on it's way
out?

Module: PCM - Powertrain Control Module
DTC - U0140

This is listed as "Lost Communication With Body Control Module" not too sure whether to be concerned with this or not.

I have cleared all the codes and re-read them and the only ones to come back is B2089.

Never really looked at DTC's before so not sure if for these it is more info than anything else.

Thanks - Jason

because led bulbs have a lower resistance the ecu will think that a bulb has blown and throw the code up. this could be cured by fitting resistors into the puddle light circuts.

I was thinking this also but I have LEDs for all my bulbs interior and exterior so I discounted this as the issue

The Focus MK2/MK2.5 does not have a bulb check system. LED bulbs can be installed without any problems.

If the puddle lamps are working correctly I would not bother about the DTC code.

The other stored DTC codes which did not re-appear after erasing the codes are old DTC codes which are not active at this time. The rain sensor communication fault is quite common. I have seen this a few times on diferent Focus MK2/MK2.5 models. My previous MK2 did also have this DTC code once in a while (about twice a year). Even installing a new rain sensor and a new GEM module/fuse box did not solve this problem. I suspect this DTC code is caused by a software bug.

Thanks mate, I won't worry about it too much then [emoji2]
