Electronics Issue

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Hope you might be able to advise with an issue i'm having with my Focus. It's an 06 plate Ghia 1.6 petrol.

I noticed on Friday that the warning beep for low temperature, door open etc had stopped working.

Then when I was driving home today the radio suddenly turned itself off and would not turn back on. It's a JVC KW-AVX740 and not the factory fitted model.

After getting home I realised that a few other things had suddenly stopped working:

  • The central locking would not work and the boot would not open unless I used the boot release button on the key fob.
  • The indicators and hazard lights worked but the green arrows on the dashboard didn't light up and there was no tick tock noise.

I checked the GEM unit in the passenger footwell and disconnected/reconnected the underside plugs. The central locking then worked as well as dashboard display and tick tock for the indicators.

However the radio still won't turn on and the warning beep still does not sound.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should look at next or what could be causing the issue?

Thanks

check the fuse in the radio, its possible the loose connection caused a spike which blew the fuse?
