Engine Issue?

Featured Replies

So my fiesta mk7 59 plate has developed an annoying 'squeal' at around 2000 to 2300rpm! Above or below this when accelerating its not there and doesn't happen when slowing down. Also doesn't happen when not in gear!

Do I look at a belt / pulley issue? Maybe a transmission related issue? Happens in 2nd / 3rd / 4th / 5th in the same RPM range

It's only just ticked over to 52000 miles!

Is there anything else I should check before I book it in?

I think I have the same issue as you. I posted about it here along with a short sound clip:

http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/63298-strange-high-pitch-whistlewhine-when-accelerating/

Is this the same kind of noise you get?

My car is also a 59 plate Mk7 and has 51,000 miles so sounds pretty similar.

I haven't got a solution yet but it is on my to-do list to take it in to the garage to find the answer once and for all! Cheers :)

Edit: Mine is a petrol 2009 mk7 1.25 Zetec Fiesta

Hows about you give us a clue what engine you have , petrol/diesel size then we may have others with same fault that was fixable?

I have 58 plate mk7 fiesta, mine is a bit more high pitched than normal sort of like a whistle in lower gears, especially when its freezing out. I think it's just the weather as i had my car in the garage for something different the other week and nothing was picked up on test drive to do with the engine.

Finally got around to this! I'll upload the second vid soon

To be clear it's had a new timing kit / belt / new aux belt / water pump

My impression is it's the exhaust!
