Focus Is Due For A Service, Replace Air Filter For A Better One?

Featured Replies

MY Focus Mk 2.5 1.8 is due a service, is it worth sticking with a normal filter or should I replace it with something better ? (like the green cotton one)

if so which one and where to buy from ?

Thanks all

I have had a K&N filter now for about 4 years I think and when ever I have a service the reduce the price as they're not changing the filter so it's actually paid for its self now

+1 for k&n I still clean it once a year tho

Have you got the specific 2.0TDCi air filter Jason?

Wanted one for the 1.8TDCi but noticed it's about £20 more than the 1.6 petrol filter. The dimensions are a bit different between the two (few cm)

I have a 1.8 petrol

mark 2.5 focus

anyone know if its flat filter or the other type?

It'll be a flat filter but you can install a cone if you wanted :)

Open the airbox and look mines a 1.6 but had the bigger cone one can see the circle for the cone on the side of the airbox with the bonnet open

Mines a cylindrical filter which I believe is the same as the 1.6TDCI

Go on to the K&N website I'm sure they have a match n find service

I fitted a green cotton filter to a 1.8 tdci. Engine felt more responsive and quicker off the mark. Mine was 55 pounds and i clean it every 3 months to keep it free from leafs and debris. It will pay for itself in the long run as its 1 item on your service you don't need to replace.
