Damage Question

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

New here and I was hoping you'd offer some advice.

Picked up a 13 Plate Fiesta about 3 weeks ago and a few nights back a neighbour has accidentally reversed off her drive into the car which was parked on the opposite side of the road (ie a side impact). It's caused the damage in the attached pictures which we've been and had a quote for and the neighbour is happy to pay (she's been brilliant in fairness).

My concern is whether an impact of this sort could have caused any further damage that we are unaware of. As you'll see from the pictures the wheel doesn't show any signs of being hit and it was a low speed impact so I'm assuming her bumper and the suspension would have absorbed most of the impact but do you guys think that there is any risk that further damage was caused underneath the car, to the wheel etc and not just the superficial visible stuff?

Looks like just a deep scratch / dent to me. I had a similar bump when I got my Fiesta, but it wa sme that did the bumping, at a higher speed backing out of a drive, only cause damage to the body of my car and the car I hit so i reckon you'll be fine

Nice one cheers, that's good to know.

if you are worried about it im sure you'd be able to find a garage that would check it over for free, a lot of ford dealers do free health and safety checks

As long as the wheels straight there's no need to worry about that as the stub axle will not have taken any impact. Other than that it looks like deny pushing out and painting I can't see that it will have damaged the inner skin under the body work from a low speed impact.

Thanks guys, one last question. The car is booked infor next week. Should I be covering the scratch in the meantime to prevent corrosion on the exposed area? Or will a week not matter?

The only way to check is have the rear wheels alignement done. Don't bother about covering up scratches, the bodyshop with sand back to bare metal and paint the whole panel.
