Mk3 Sat Nav Foice & App Link Iphone Conncetion

Featured Replies

Two questions guys,

Is it possible to change the Sat Nav voice? Its a horrid womans voice atm and I cannot stand her.

Secondly, I've read on fords site to use app link you need to connect the iphone with a usb but is it not possible at all with just bluetooth?

I don't know about how to change the satnav voice. But to use applink with an iPhone yes you have to be connected via usb. This is apples doing as they won't allow it via Bluetooth for the applink or text message reading via Bluetooth. There reason behind is because they have Siri and CarPlay and they don't want manufacturers to be able to do it via there own system. They want then to use CarPlay instead android on the other hand do allow it all to work via Bluetooth.

Ah I see, Fords site under the mobile compatibility doesn't list the iPhone 6 yet, but is it the same as a 5S? So in terms of text messaging with the iPhone wirelessly, what can you do?

The iPhone 6 is compatible as I have one and my fiesta ST 13plate picks it up fine no problems. To listen to a text you need to activate Siri this will then connect your phone to the car like you are making a call the just as Siri to read the text then when finished hang up. I've done this loads of times and it's always worked.
