I have a late 2007 Ford Focus Ghia, which has pretty much every option ticked from factory, however it has the standard halogen headlights.

I was looking into upgrading the headlights to the "Cornering Lamps, fitted as an option on many mk2 ford focus.

I've removed one headlight, and I see that the connector from the vehicles wiring loom is a 10 pin and not a 7 pin, does this mean it will simply be a case of plug and play?

The AFL (Adaptive Front Lightning) headlights are not plug and play.

The AFL headlamps are controlled by the HCM module (Headlamp Control module). The HCM is only present on Focus MK2/MK.5 versions with AFL or HID headlamps. Focus MK2/MK.5 versions with normal halogen headlights do not have this HCM. The AFL headlights do also require a steering angle sensor which is installed to the steering collumn. Focus MK2/MK.5 versions with normal halogen headlamps do not have this steering angle sensor. Focus MK2/MK.5 versions with ESP do have a steering angle sensor but the ESP steering angle sensor is different from the steering angle sensor for ESP/AFL. In most cases the wiring (or part of the wiring) which is required for AFL headlights will also be missing. Many times the wiring in the engine bay is present but the wiring in the interior is most times missing.

However the AFL headlights can be installed without using the AFL function. If the AFL motors inside the AFL headlights are disconnected these headlights can be adjusted correctly and used as normal healights

Very informative reply, thank you very much. My car is a "57" plate Ghia 2.0 Duratec HE (one of the last production ones of this model). I wasn't sure whether Ford would have left all of the wiring looms/plugs/connectors like they sometimes do. It has ESP also.

I'll be sticking to the stock ones it seems.

So these would OK then as normal headlights.

What should I look for in terms of wiring in the interior? I have wiring ready in the engine bay - all the wires are present on the headlight connector, but since I don't have ESP, I'm not sure what to look for inside the car. Thanks for info! 

what he's trying to say I think is you're looking at a lot of work to make the adaptive lighting work as well as expense you would need the sensor and to have it fitted to the steering column no easy feat you would need the headlamp control unit wiring relays fuses etc etc standard halogens with decent bulbs work perfectly fine

To make it work I can agree its a lot of work, but possible.

My car didn't have the connector for the interior loom, one way to do it is replace the dash loom with one that has.

The other option is to find the loom and cut the connector and wiring out and retrofit it to your original loom.

You are still then required to install the headlights, the AFL module, steering wheel sensor if you don't already have one and the 2 levelling sensors.

Lot of work unless you find a car with these so you can remove them.

only had one car with adaptive lighting cornering lamps and I hated them not good when they go faulty and are pointing the wrong way lol

I'm not saying that I'm going to fit them tomorrow :D ... I just wanted to know what to look for, since I have a lot of looms already pre-installed in the car, only the modules are missing.

And I like the more the projector style light output of the AFS headlights than the reflectors, I currently have the angel eyes which have projectors too, but I'm thinking of changing them to get more OEM look. And since it looks like I shouldn't have much to do in terms of getting them fully working, I was just wondering what exactly should I look for in the car. I believe the hardest part would be if I didn't even have the wires in the headlight conectors, so...insides should be easier to retrofit :)
