Trying To Upgrade Stereo Help Please In Regards To The Wires

Featured Replies

I bought a cheap stereo off ebay, but the wires do not fit the back part, so I bought a iso wire, or harness loom, but that does not fit the back of the stereo, they fit the actual wires attached to the car, but then the small brown and black parts do not fit the stereo, I've added some pictures to try and explain what I mean. If someone knows the name of the wire I need please let me know. Thanks

Have you got a separate image of each loom?

Did the radio come with an installation guide/wiring diagram like a lot of radios?

No problem! :) & £17?! May have done well there

If I were to find & write you a list of colours to connect to what, are you anygood at wiring?.. Just soldering & heatshrink?

I'll have a proper look at the pictures within the next 30 mins, just tidying boot out.. Starting to get messy! Aha

I might be wrong.. But I doubt you'll find an exact adapter for the radio as it's a generic make and the connector used isn't very often used on radios

Could you just list what colour wires are currently on the CAR loom for me? Just so I can confirm the diagram I'm looking at :)

Cheers

I have another picture here that might help, i can get a list of the wires tomorrow its just the cars at my house, yes i have a solder iron i would just need some of the wire that you melt, i have a long white thing with screws that join wires too, maybe i could use that?

So if you wanted to make your own loom.. All of the colours go to the matching colour, except the ORANGE wire which is used for the dash light signal for the radio. Usually with cheaper radios they make up their own wiring but this matches!

Or you could purchase this and connect it up (still making your own loom but It saves cutting things up)

So i discard the brown and black wires that come with fascia kit? and just cut the wires that are connect to the car, and just join any colour that matches? or do i join the brown and black thing first?

edit

oh right im with you i think, so to save cutting the ones coming from the car, i use the brown and black thing, then get the wire you provided the link to, then join the matching colours from there?

First of all, identify the end of the adapter loom that connects to the CAR loom. Then you need to cut off the end that DOESN'T fit to the car loom (without shorting anything if you're cutting with if plugged into the car). Then simply connect all the wires that match yeah

OR - OR - OR - OR

If you purchase the ISO ends that I've linked you to then you could terminate the radio loom with them & plug straight into the adapter that came with the fascia! Upto you which route you take :)

I could probably have explained it better but you seem you get what I'm trying to say! :)

Thanks for your help on this - Right i have made some progress, I could not find the white connector block thing, or my solder iron, i think i may have binned them. So temporary i have just twisted them together to match them up, if you think it looks OK and good to go, i will go to maplin later and pick up some of those sleeve things, or a connector block.

The only wire that did not match exactly was the orange, and i had to join 2 black wires together with a third black, which was slighly thicker than the other wires.

Here is how i have done it.

Thanks. I got it working but i have some other issues now. Will need to post that in a different section though. But thanks for your help with this. It worked perfect until my other issue has happened.

What's the other issue? Have you got a link to the topic?
