Electrical Problems And Water Ingress

Featured Replies

I have a 2008 Ford Focus econetic and right from the start I have been having electrical problems. I posted a topic in 2013 about the chimes not working when the lights are left on which I have just decided to put up with but since then the front power socket has stopped working, the central locking doesn't work via the key and changing the battery and reprogramming it has failed and the rear windscreen wiper comes on whenever it decides to and I am frankly just waiting for the next thing. I took the car to a car wash yesterday and for the first time I saw water dripping onto the front passenger seat and the rear passenger seat which was coming through the plastic seals above the doors. I guess that water is probably entering the car on a regular basis and then going somewhere and causing these problems?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

You need to check you've not been getting water dripping into the module & fusebox located under the dash behind the glovebox - shorts or bad connections there will send your electrics haywire.

Sounds like you need to either get the door seals replaced or check the doors are closing flush so they seal properly.
