Ignition Switched Supply... In The Boot?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Anyone know of an ignition switched supply in the boot?

I've had a look at the wiring diagram, and apart from the parking sensor module (which i'm 99.9999% sure won't be fitted to my Focus, as although I have XVision sensors they're aftermarket), I cannot seem to see an ignition switched supply to supply my rear cam.

If there isn't one, i'll just run another cable from my cigar lighter socket instead, but would save the long wire run!

Cheers,

micro

Is this for a reversing camera or do you want it on all the time?

If it's only needed for reversing then use feed off the reversing lamp. If not, it's worth having a look behind the lhs carpet trim as the connectors for PAM or Keyless might still be there and possibly only needs a fuse putting in to get it live. Plus with some features they have switched live off the ignition but are controlled via switching the negative side.

Boot lamp may be like this, just consider how much extra current you'll be pulling through the fuse and what you'd else would stop working in the event the camera went belly-up and blew the fuse.

Was for a rear dash cam - wired to the center console cigar lighter instead (where my other cam is wired to) - for the less hassle of finding my multimeter and poking and prodding it probably paid for the extra 2m of wire!
