Hi, I'm new to the forum, mainly because I have an old mk4 fiesta 1.25 and my friend managed to lose the ignition key...

I was told that, as the key was chipped, I'd need to replace the ecu and ignition if buying secondhand... I bought the ecu off ebay with key and door lock, only to be presented with an extra part(?)... In this picture you can see it... To the left, just under the ignition barrel... It's a plastic ring with a small plug socket?...

When I replace the ecu, do I have to replace this part too or will the ecu recognise the key without it?... If I have to replace it, firstly, what is it and, secondly, where is it located in the car?... If I dont need to replace it then EVEN BETTER!... :)

    Sounds like the ign key pickup coil, you will have one already attatched to barrel. No need to replace.

    Thanks... It's the part in the picture above the red serial number and below the ignition barrel... I didn't mean the part was below the actual ignition barrel in the car, just in the pic (see my first post)... Can someone confirm please?...

    Oh, ok... Many thanks... :) I couldn't see it in the passenger footwell and had a panic on... I have 3hrs to get sorted and with no key I'll be drilling the barrel out... :(

    Wish me luck and thanks again... Places like this are worth their weight in gold... ;)
