Factory Sony Hu Quadlock Connector

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Planning to put a sub and amp in the focus but keep the factory sony hu. Rather than chop into the factory Wire harness I was thinking about getting a quad lock extender and using that to connect to the hi lo converter. I've seen these two on ebay.

EBay numbers 251575331755 and 120977196535

Would appreciate a bit of advice or opinions on this.

Thanks guys

Keep us posted David,

Perhaps this one would save you purchasing a low level RCA output adaptor aswell

FastCarAudio are the cheapest UK suppliers of JL Audio and the Class D range of amps by JL are super efficient on consumption,

Vibe Slick 4AWG Amplifier install kit has everything else you would need except the fuse,

The fuse size depends on your size of Amplifier, i suggest fitting a circuit breaker instead of a fuse box as if it trips you just turn switch to reset it

Find out the required Amperage you need and see Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-30-50-60-80-100A-Car-Stereo-Audio-Inline-Circuit-Breaker-Reset-Fuse-12V-24V/311016749602?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29167%26meid%3D20359757cde14e22a6f0dda3251a9803%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D361148581941&rt=nc

Cheers for the info lenny.

S*it! wish I had known about theat rca output wire before ordering the quadlock extender and hi to lo converter. Had been looking for sumit like that for ages but never saw thst! Owell just means I get to chop some wires instead lol

Quadlock extender arrived today from germany. Didn't take long to get here either. Looking forward to getting it in. Looks legit so should just clip straight in!

tried the quadlock extender in the car tonight. everything works except stalk controls, so unfortunately for me this is a no no.

Back to the drawing boards . . . . . . looks to me like I am just gunna have to cut into the main harness for my connections . . . . . . .any one else done this? I think ill use some scotch lock things i got laying about for it so not to make too much damage.

Had a look at what you suggested Lenny and it would be great but it cuts out the rear speakers and would like to keep them going and have the sub.

ow rite i thought it would just splice in to the rear speaker connections allowing both to work simultaneously,

easy enough to splice in to the audio feeds and fit a low level RCA adapter.

Had a few more goes with the quadlock extender and pooof it worked. Think some of the wires on connectors b or c were a bit loose, with a wiggle and some good luck it all worked. would recommend to anyone that doesnt want to cut into factory harness!

Subs all in now: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/59717-d4vog-build/page-3#entry458605

Not Sure if youve already sorted ypurself with an RCA cable,

Thanks for the offer but I went with the full vibe 4 gauge kit as recommended by you me thinks. Just made sure that I got the right fuse to match the amp. Cheers anyways

No prob mate,

Its a good kit, i initally purchased three vibe kits,

One for Mono amp

One for 4 channel amp

I then purchased a third kit to obtain this additional 5 metre RCA cable to feed the other two channels of the four channel amp,

However ive since purchased a Vibe 5Metre FlatBass RCA to feed the Mono amp resulting in me having one of th3 slick RCA's available for sale,

Cheaper than purchasing a second kit and an ideal extra RCA cable if fitting 4 channel.

Hi im interested in doing this also what wire would you be taking the amp wire into ???

The quadlock I got came and looked like this

All the wires had written on them what they were and with a quick check on the below which I found on the net everything matched up.

I then used scotchlock connectors to tap in rear for left and right. I looked across the net and there were places saying there is an input wire on connector block b or c for sub ign wire but as mine didn't have them coming back on factory I went with fuse tap in ignition to a swtich. Which I placed by the obd connector.

Hope this helps. Took some wangling to get the extender in with the radio but once in its fine and saves cutting into factory harness.
