Dealer Service - Software Updates

Featured Replies

If you get your car serviced at a Ford dealer, do they usually check for software updates as part of the service or is it something you have to ask for and pay extra for?

not part of the service, and updates are normally only installed if there is a corncern to rectify.

def wouldnt recomend updates for the sake of them, can sometimes cause more problems than they fix

Ok so for a car of my age, I'd be as well getting a service at an independent garage rather than a Ford dealer?

up to you where you get it serviced, even if it was a new car,

Got a feeling the dealer will often apply certain updates which Ford have listed as Field Service Actions - these are like recalls but not safety related and not usually publicised. Might be more likely if the car is still under warranty as it lets them apply fixes for possible warranty issues without actually telling you there was an issue in the first place.

field service actions are normally a customer letter referal so customers are aware of any applicable fsa, or more rarley they are actions to rectify before sale or delivery.
