6000 Cd Radio Phone Mode

I have an 08 Focus and the cd/radio has starting cutting out and automatically going to PHONE, it is driving me crazy as I can't listen to anything without it cutting out and "PHONE" coming up on the display, how can I stop this?

My cd/radio is the curved shaped 6000, please help before I rip it out through frustration!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    This could be a wiring issue, as a short to ground one the phone attenuate pin will put the radio into that mode.

    That gives me a possible cause but how do I resolve the issue, I'm not really technically minded.

    I know how to remove the head unit and remove the wiring loom from the unit but not much more
