Ford Epb Corroded Cable Not Replaceable?

Featured Replies

Hi all, my wife's 2004 C-Max has the electronic parking brake and is sticking on.
I've had it in at a local garage today who have found the fault, the cable on one side is corroded and not releasing properly.
Trouble is Ford won't supply him with the cable, just the entire EPB system at around £700 + fitting.

Does anyone here have any knowledge of these systems and know of a cable fix without having to replace the whole thing?

Cheers

Rich

you could go to a scrappie and pick up a cable from there, it would be more effort, but its certainly possible.

Alternatively, you could look to install a manual handbrake, and have the EPB removed...

For an 04 though, I would be looking at one of these rather than a ford repair!

Thanks, I tried ebay and my local scrap yards and ford breakers but it seems that nobody has one in stock.

Seems to be working OK since the mechanic has blasted it with WD40 and knocked the cable around a bit this morning so I think a prompt trade-in might be the best option.

Possibly so but go to breakeryard.com and fill out a request they are normally pretty good
